Research Interests

Before transitioning to the field of mental health, Dr Zheng worked as a research scientist at the ANZAC Research Institute and the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, where he focused on cancer and bone metastasis. During this time, he secured multiple research grants and fellowships and published many peer reviewed journal articles. Now, Dr Zheng applies his expertise to mental health research, with a particular focus on improving the monitoring and measurement of serum levels of clozapine and other antipsychotic medications to enhance patient outcomes.

    Qualifications

    Dr Yu Zheng is a general adult psychiatrist who completed psychiatry specialist training through the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). He was trained in psychiatry across various organizations in Sydney. He holds degrees in medicine and a PhD from the University of Sydney.

    Work Experience

    Dr Zheng is a Consultant Psychiatrist at Orudra Mindspace and also in Sydney and Murrumbidgee Local Health District (SLHD and MLHD). He has special interests and expertise in Youth Mental Health and Mental Health in Veterans and people with intellectual disabilities, and working collaboratively with families and carers to facilitate functioning and recovery. He uses a combination of biological treatments (medications) and psychological interventions. Dr Zheng has a wide range of clinical interests, including:
