Fees and Rebates

We are a Private billing practice and do not Bulkbill. We believe that everyone should have access to high-quality mental health care. We try to make this possible by offering a range of fee options and rebates as mentioned below.

You will be charged the total cost for the following appointment types:

  • Private Billing with Medicare Cover: If you have Medicare cover, you will be able to claim part payment as your Medicare rebate, if you have a valid Referral.
  • Private Billing with No Medicare Cover: If you do not have Medicare cover (e.g. overseas students etc.), you will not be able to claim Medicare rebates.

There will be no charge for patients who are eligible for the following appointment types:

  • DVA: Referral and DVA Gold or White Card
  • Workcover: Referral and Insurer Approval Letter
  • Bulkbilling Regional & Rural Areas (MM2-7): for Item 291 Assessment Plan check MM2-7 Eligibility.

Claiming Medicare Rebate: We  will process Medicare claims for you after each appointment. Your rebate will then get conveniently paid directly into your registered bank account with Medicare.

Frequently Asked Questions

For more information on Fees & Rebates visit our FAQs page.

What are the costs and rebates?

We are a private billing practice and do not bulkbill. Private fees may vary between practitioners.

Am I eligible for a Medicare rebate?

If you are a Medicare card holder and have a valid referral at the time of your appointment, you will be eligible for a partial rebate on your consultation fee.

Where do I get my referral from?

You can get a referral either from your GP or Specialist. A referral from your GP is valid for 12 months and a referral from your Specialist is valid for 3 months. It is your responsibility to make sure that your referral is valid/current.

Can my GP send a referral to Orudra Mindspace directly?

Yes, GPs can send referrals for their patients directly to us via our website by clicking on the ‘GP/Referral’  tab on the Home Page or clicking on the button “Make Referral (GP/Specialist)”. We will then contact you and organise an appointment with a suitable Practitioner.

Can we claim a rebate on Fees through Private Health Funds?

No, you cannot. Outpatient psychiatry services are not covered by private health funds. Only inpatient psychiatry services are covered by some private health funds through hospital cover.

How will the fee/deposit be charged?

A deposit amount of 50% will be charged at the time of booking your appointment. The remainder of the fee will be charged on the day of your scheduled appointment.

What are the limitations to booking a Follow-up appointment?

The patient should have seen the Practitioner within the past 2 years to book a follow-up appointment. Otherwise, the appointment will be treated as a New Patient Appointment and therefore, New Patient booking pathway will need to be followed.

What happens in the event of cancellation/non-attendance?

To cancel or reschedule their appointments, patients are required to give a notice of a minimum of two business days (48 hours).  Failure to do so will result in the charging of 50% fee. Non-attendance will also result in charging 50% of the fee. Cancellation/ non-attendance charges are not eligible for Medicare rebates. When sufficient notice is provided, canceled appointments will get a complete refund (minus the Credit Card transaction fee).

What is the protocol for a prescription request outside of appointment?

Requests for scripts outside of appointments are not accommodated. This is because sometimes the mental health landscape for patients can change very quickly. In such a situation, providing medication without proper review and assessment can pose significant risks to the patients’ health and wellbeing.

Do you see the patients covered under Workers Compensation insurance and the ones covered under Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA)?

Yes, we see patients covered under Workers Compensation insurance. To see one of our Practitioners you will need prior approval from the insurer.

Yes, we also see patients covered under DVA. Please check with your GP or the Department for more information.

Do you cover Compulsory Third Party (CTP), Community Treatment Orders (CTO) or Medico-legal services?

No, we do not cover CTP, CTO or Medico-legal services.
