Frequently asked questions

Who is Orudra Mindspace?

Orudra Mindspace is a Specialist Mental Health Clinic offering patients in- person and Telehealth appointments with its team of Psychiatrists, Psychologists and other Specialists.

What is the difference between a Psychiatrist and a Psychologist?

Psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in mental health and psychiatry. They first obtain a medical degree and then spend 5 years or more training in mental health. Psychiatrists diagnose illness, manage treatment (including prescribing medication) and provide a range of therapies for complex and serious mental illness.

Psychologists are not medical doctors and cannot prescribe medications. Psychologists have at least 6 years of university training and supervised experience and may also hold a Masters or Doctorate level qualification in psychology. Therapeutic approaches that psychologists use typically include cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), schema therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) and others.

Who do I need to book my appointment with a Psychiatrist or a Psychologist?

You need a valid referral from your GP or a Specialist to book an appointment with a Psychiatrist, and to be able to claim Medicare rebate.

To book an appointment with a Psychologist, you will need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP.

How do I book an appointment if I am a New Patient?

There are different ways in which you can book your appointment with the Practitioner:

  1. You can click on ‘Book Appointment’ button on our website and follow the prompts for ‘New Patient’.
  2. You can contact us directly via email and we will call you back as soon as possible with further instructions.
  3. Alternately, GPs can directly upload your referral on our website, and we will contact you to book an appointment with our Practitioners.
How do I book an appointment if I am an Existing Patient?

If you are an existing patient:

  1. Most likely, your Practitioner or Admin Staff would have checked with you and booked your follow-up appointment at the end of your last appointment.
  2. You can also go to our website and click ‘Book Appointment’ button, follow the prompts for ‘Existing Patient’ and book an appointment yourself with your practitioner.
  3. You can also email us at reception@orudra.com.au  or ring us up on 0480443008 and we will assist you in booking a follow-up appointment.
How can I cancel/reschedule an appointment?

You can cancel or reschedule your appointment by emailing us at reception@orudra.com.au. Any cancellation or rescheduling should be done 48 hours (2 business days) prior to your appointment to avoid the cancellation charges.

What are the cancellation charges?

To cancel or reschedule your appointment, you are required to give at least two days (48 hours) notice. Failure to do so will result in the charging of 50% fee. Non-attendance will also result in charging 50% of the fee. Cancellation fees are not eligible for Medicare rebate. When sufficient notice is provided, canceled appointments will get a complete refund of the deposit (minus the Credit Card transaction fee).

Do I need to fill out any form prior to or after the appointment?

If you are a new patient, you will be required to fill in and submit a 'Patient Intake Form' a week prior to your appointment. This form will be emailed to you by our Practice. Following the first appointment, or anytime during the subsequent appointments, depending on your diagnosis and progress, the treating Practitioner may ask you to fill out more forms, surveys or questionnaires to gather information in a structured format to facilitate treatment decisions.

What do I do if my script runs out?

To get a new script, you will need to book an appointment with your Specialist. This is because providing medication without proper review and assessment can pose significant risks to the patients’ health and wellbeing. You will need to plan and make a booking well in advance, as appointments may not be available at short notice. If you are being managed by your GP under 291 plan, then you can get a script from your GP as well.

What are the costs and rebates?

We are a private billing practice and do not bulkbill. Details on Fee charges can be found in the Fee section on our website.

Telehealth refers to the use of technology, such as video conferencing platforms, to provide healthcare services remotely. It allows patients and healthcare providers to connect and communicate in real-time without being physically present in the same location. During a telehealth consultation, both the patient and the healthcare specialist can see and hear each other through the video platform, enabling a virtual face-to-face interaction that resembles an in-person appointment.

How do I access telehealth?

Once your appointment is confirmed, a telehealth link will be emailed to you to log onto. Alternatively, you can go directly to the home page of our website and click the red button with video icon, on the top right corner of the page, and follow the prompts to get connected to your treating Practitioner.

What equipment do I need for telehealth?

You will need a device (desktop, laptop, iPad or a smart phone). The device should have a camera and microphone and there should be a good internet connection.
