Qualifications

Dr Khodeza Akter is a Consultant Psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience working across Australia and the United Kingdom in a broad range of psychiatric settings. She holds specialist qualifications in General Adult Psychiatry with endorsement in Liaison Psychiatry from the General Medical Council (UK), is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) and has completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Dundee.

Dr Akter has extensive expertise in the assessment and management of complex mental health conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychosis, personality disorders, perinatal mental health conditions, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as Adult ADHD. She has worked in community, inpatient, crisis, liaison, perinatal, older adult, and early intervention services, holding consultant positions across major NHS trusts in the United Kingdom before returning to Australia.

She has a particular interest in perinatal psychiatry, liaison psychiatry, adult ADHD, suicide risk assessment, and culturally sensitive mental health care. Dr Akter is committed to collaborative, evidence-based practice and has significant experience in medical leadership, multidisciplinary teamwork, trainee supervision, and medical education.
